Marquette, MI – Every father’s day weekend the Marquette County Fairgrounds hosts the Great Lakes Rodeo rain or shine. This annual event features hard and fast riding where cowboys and cowgirls shine at the Great Lakes Rodeo in classic rodeo competitions like bull-riding, bronco-riding, and steer-roping to name a few.

Now this is one event that even a city girl (or boy) can enjoy. You don’t have to be a cowpoke or know a thing about riding, heck, you don’t even have to like country music to have fun at this rodeo event!  Watching these brave souls risk their lives on the back of bucking horses and raging bulls is exciting no matter what you’re into!

This makes a great weekend getaway for visitors to the area as they allow camping on the fairgrounds or you can stay in one of the many hotels available in Marquette just a 15 minute drive from the Marquette County Fairgrounds. You can bring all the kids, there are events all weekend that the whole family can enjoy such as horseback riding through miles of scenic trails, trips to nearby trophy trout lake for fishing, Friday night pig roast, Saturday night barn dance, and they even offer classes in team penning if you’d like to pick up some skills for yourself or the kids.

Rodeo show events take place each day where riders show off their skills from team penning, speed shows, queen/princess competitions, and a host of other exciting events.  All this for an extremely reasonable price with packages available for the entire weekend or daily rates.  There really is something for everyone here, be sure to check out the Great Lakes Rodeo next June!
