You'll have double the action in their last home bout of the season

Marquette, MI – If you haven’t been to a Dead River Derby session (shame on you) but don’t fret, you will have one last chance on August 29th at 6pm to see our hometown derby girls in some hard hitting action on the Lakeview Arena floor. This will mark their final home bout for the 2015 season and the Dead River Derby girls are promising “intense and riveting derby action” for their closing night in Marquette. Win or lose, I can tell you that they will make good on that promise!

Following the derby action was one of the highlights of our 2014 summer and since then things have only gotten better as the league has grown into two teams which means double the action and double the fun at each event. You’ll find it’s a very family friendly event with bounce house action for the kiddos and refreshments on-sale. For a full disclosure of details on this upcoming event read on:

Marquette, MI- Marquette’s local roller derby team, Dead River Derby will be hosting their final home bout on August 29th in Marquette’s Lakeview Arena. The competition will begin with their travel team, Rolling Riptide going up against the Floral City Roller Girls from Monroe, MI.  These fierce athletes have been together since 2010. These two teams are looking to bring some serious heat to the track beginning at 6:00PM. Then stick around to watch as Dead River’s Superior Sirens take on the Bath City Roller Girls. Bath City Roller Girls is an amateur roller derby league out of Macomb County, Michigan, who skate in Shelby Township. Both events are looking to bring some fast paced and hard hitting entertainment to the Marquette Area all while giving back to the community. Dead River has chosen Room at the Inn to be the beneficiary of the event and is looking for the community’s help to make this a generous donation! Room at the Inn will be benefitting from a portion of the ticket sales, so make sure to tell your friends and come to Lakeview Arena!!

EXTRA! EXTRA! Dead River is seeking individuals to expand this women’s full contact sport with skaters, event volunteers, referees and non-staking officials. Dead River will be providing recruitment information at NMU’s Fall Fest for any interested skaters. Come out and meet some of the athletes. If you are unable to stop in, you can simply visit DRD’s fan page on Facebook. Other volunteer opportunities for volunteering include becoming a referee, non-skating official and helping out on the event day. Dead River provides plenty of perks for lending a hand!  If you’re interested in free admission to bouts, open invitations to the after parties and some other awesome incentives, please contact our Volunteer Director by e-mail at volunteer4drd@gmail.com.

On the day of the event, doors open at 5pm and the bout begins at 6pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance from your local derby girl or at brownpapertickets.com.
