Marquette, MI – A holistic approach is what owner Carol Rector believes to be the success for her business, 3rd Street Day Spa & Salon of Marquette. With six stylists in her shop, it is THE place to go for facials, waxing and any other full-service salon needs that you may have.

Greeting me upon my arrival was a little Shitzu named Molly, and not only is she is extremely friendly, she’s also earned the role of the “spa mascot.” A very friendly reason to smile, she sets the tone for how the rest of your visit here will g0. Having opened in 2009, Rector said that they went by the name “3rd Street Hair Company” until she graduated with her aesthetician license in 2010. It then grew from there, as she began doing facials, stress relief treatment, eyelash application and airbrush make-up, as well.

Carol has five other stylists whom are each their own Independent Contractors (chair rentals), so you really can book an entire “pamper day” at the 3rd Street Day Spa & Salon. “My daughter Tara has 3 years of experience,” says Carol, “while Lisa Johnson has 9 years, Marla DeBolt has 11 years, Dawn Jaqua has 10 years, and Arrin Murry comes in with 14 years experience.”

Manicures, pedicures, all natural spray tanning, waxing and natural and Gelish nails are all other services offered by this great business, located at 816 North 3rd Street, Marquette. Rector carries the Paul Mitchell product line, as she says it’s a more natural, eco-friendly option.
You literally can make an appointment, go in and get a relaxing facial, manicure, pedicure, haircut and color and top it off with a spray tan and you’re ready for a day of relaxation, and perhaps even, a night out.

“We like people to know that we take more of a holistic approach to people’s well being,” says Carol, “we like to create a warm, inviting, homey and welcoming environment, where people feel comfortable.” And comfortable, I was…walking through the business, I could faintly hear the barely audible conversations between stylist and client, which is the way it should be. Booked solidly for the day I was here, one stylist was busy with a complex color, while another was doing a pedicure, another doing a manicure. Rector walked me through the salon’s make-up station, their spray-tan tent, and showed me the welcoming massage area featuring non-traditional swedish style rub downs as well. If I only had more time today!
