Marquette Michigan – The Lake Superior Youth Theatre  (LSYT) has put together a practically perfect musical production of the beloved family story, MARY POPPINS which will play at the Forest Roberts Theatre in Marquette from Friday, February 27, 2015 – March 7, 2015.

At last this much anticipated production of everyone’s favorite nanny is ready to present for Marquette audiences! LSYT was overwhelmed with children trying out for Mary Poppins when auditions opened in early December. They were able to accommodate even more kids than usual in order to include as many local youth as possible putting the cast count at approximately 105 kids aged 4 – 18yrs.

Those of us familiar with the Disney movie version of the story will be pleased to find all our favorite songs included in the performance such as “Spoon Full of Sugar”, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, “Chim Chim Che-Ree”, and more. However, in keeping with the Broadway version, there are additional songs and lyrics you may not have heard before too.  Kids will be delighted to see Mary Poppins fly through the air and by the special surprise in the classic chimney sweep number “Step In Time” during act II!

Says director Nikke Nason, “With choreography by Jill Grundstrom and Jill Vermeulen, vocal direction by Jeff Bruning, lighting design and stage management by Jalina Olgren, set design and flying effects by Kim Hegmegee, costume design by Suzanne Shahbazi, makeup design by Ryan White and hair design by the LSYT hair moms, we’ve assembled a great team to enhance all of the special effects that the show requires.”
