NMU Homecoming: Not Just for Students

NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY HOMECOMING CAN BE FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

Marquette, MI- With Northern Michigan University’s Homecoming just around the corner, NMU students are in the final stages of preparing their floats, putting the finishing touches on their choreography for stepping competitions and gearing up for the Dead River Games. Most of the student body at NMU will be participating in the events for homecoming, but it is also encouraged for the Marquette community participates in homecoming as well.

Northern puts on a variety of community friendly events throughout the week of it’s homecoming, the main event being the NMU football game against Hillsdale College on Saturday, September 19, 2015, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m at the Superior Dome. Football fans are encouraged to show their Wildcat pride by attending the game, cheering on the home team and wearing green and gold to the game.

NMU also puts on a Northern Game Day Party for the whole community. This event takes place at Saturday, September 19, 2015, 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Superior Dome before the game. It’s free to attend with family friendly events featuring activities for Wildcat fans of all ages and includes a wide variety of games, inflatables and food and will be a great event for the whole family to attend. Food and beer are available for purchase.

NMU homecoming events also encourage members of the community to check out the parade on Friday, September 18, 2015, 5:30 p.m. on Third Street in Marquette. Students prepare floats and decorate cars in the theme of homecoming, which is titled “The Show Must Go On”. All organizations involved have chosen a musical theme and will portraying their musical of choice during the parade.

Homecoming is an exciting time for Northern students and its community. So come out this weekend and show some NMU pride!
