Marquette, MI – The Superior Allicance for Indepent Living can call it’s 5th annual chocolate festival a success as community members filled the Great Lakes Rooms of the NMU campus center on Sunday, February 9, 2014.  In fact, people were lined up waiting for the doors to open.

What a fabulous time this was!  My only disappointment was that I had a schedule conflict and had to rush through the many stations of sweet confections in under an hour.  This is an event to set aside the full two hours to savour and enjoy the chocolate bliss… it wouldn’t hurt to bring a set of extra hands either.  You will quickly be enticed to indulge in more than you can possible carry with two hands.  Of course they are well prepared for this dilema and plenty of tables and seating were ready for patrons to relax and relish the fun.

Such a great event as this should be happening twice a year if you ask me, one time is just not enough.  The room is filled with local chocolatiers from the Marquette area, there is great live music, silent auction items, and door prizes.  Best of all the proceeds support social and recreational programs for people of all ages and a variety of disabilities throughout the Upper Peninsula.  Chocolatiers, bakeries, and restaurants from all around town donated their time and talents to make this a success.  What could be a better combination than a great cause and great chocolate!

I can honestly say I was feeling the love after all that chocolate and it was well timed for the Valentine’s holiday to boot.  This is going to the top of our list of annual events to keep an eye out for next year!
