Omniprocessor Creates Drinkable Water and Electricity From Human Waste!

Bill Gates took time off last year to work with the philanthropic organization he founded with his wife. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is funding a project that is creating a safe affordable solution for countries struggling with problematic sanitation issues.  This endeavor has resulted in a machine called the Janicki Omniprocessor, which turns human feces into clean distilled drinking water while generating renewable energy at the same time!
Gates gave his impression on his first taste of the distilled water after watching the pieces of feces moving along the conveyor belt and into a huge tank where it then travels throughout the machine to be boiled and processed. Said Gates on his blog,  A few minutes later I took a long taste of the end result: a glass of delicious drinking water.
Gates went on to explain that while processing natural waste the Omniprocessor is also able to produce electricity which in turn powers the machine. Costs of operations will be covered by fees paid for accepting waste and the sales of the resulting water, electricity, and ash making it affordable for developing countries.  The processor solves the problem of keeping human waste out of the drinking supply while also generating a sustainable business for entreprenuers in low – medium income countries.
Approximately two billion people in the world live with sanitation conditions that cause their feces to contaminate water sources resulting in many deaths from diseases that could be prevented with proper sanitation. While the Gates Foundation is helping to create simple technology that generates safe drinking water they are also working to reinvent toilets that don’t consume drinkable water like we have in the Western world.
Says Gates, “The processor wouldn’t just keep human waste out of the drinking water; it would turn waste into a commodity with real value in the marketplace. It’s the ultimate example of that old expression: one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” You can read more about the process here at: GatesNotes.com
