Lined up and down the streets you can hear different types of music being played from reggae to rock. Old and young, both the audience and musicians spend the night feeding off each other’s energy. The Circle of Willis is a band at 1212 N. third st. that passes out instruments like maracas to audience members to let them join the band’s vibes.

There isn’t only bands playing but a few solo artists too. One of the solo musicians is Tyler Dettloff who has been playing since the fourth grade. Dettloff has been in a lot of bands including a rock and metal band. He also plays at the Wooden Nickle and the Ore Dock Brewing Company. He has been participating in the Music on Third events since it began over a year ago.

“I’ve done music on third since the get go,” Dettloff says.  “There’s not any pressure to sell anything, it’s nice that people get to stop and listen.” Dettloff feels it’s nice that  the people are hear to listen to the various musicians and says, “It’s cool that the city is encouraging it.”

Another performance going on during Music on Third  is Alan Dupras and Brandon Graham. Graham has been singing since he was four years old. Graham has played all over the Midwest area in a band called Sparrow Tree.

“Me and Allan  just started Great Lakes Graham and the Fiddle Man back in May,” Graham said.  “Allen is a great musician.”

While Graham is the main vocalist in the group, Dupras is the music behind him. Dupras just started playing the fiddle three years ago. This is Dupras first year playing in music on third.

“It’s special because you get to meet a lot of different people,” Dupras said.   “This isn’t the same people who go to the Rover or the Ramada, it’s not a bar crowd, it’s just regular people.”

If you missed the great performances from this month’s event, you can always catch the last event which will be held on August 21, 2014. It’s a great event to go out and enjoy music from a variety of musicians so mark it on your calendar; you won’t want to miss it.
