SOMETHING FUN FOR EVERYONE AT ANNUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL!

Marquette, MI – Marquette welcomed the fall season with their second annual Harvest Festival on Saturday October 11, 2014. Taking up an entire block of West Baraga Ave., the festival kicked off at three in the afternoon.

Plenty of activities and events were scheduled until 8 P.M., including: trivia, pasty eating contest, carhartt fashion show, photo booth, carousel rides, living statues, and face painting. A variety of food vendors and sidewalk sales were stationed throughout the crowd along with a separated beer tent serving New Holland Brewing Company’s craft beer.

A line up of bands including Nick Adams and the Aral Sea Divers, Chasin’ Steel, and Ben Daniels Band (Jeff Daniel’s son of course!) were set to play in between events.

The main event was the chalk painting contest sponsored by the Upper Peninsula Children’s Museum’. Locals and businesses sponsored squares of various sizes, and artists of all ages were assigned a square. The festival attendees voted on the masterpieces and a winner was announced at the end of the night.

Harvest Fest was a fun and free experience for the entire family. It has become a great addition to Marquette’s festival collection, and was a perfect event to end the summer and gear us up for the winter months to come.
